The backbone of the museum?

In 1946 the International Council of Museums (ICOM) formulated the first museum definition and in 2007 the last change was made. A committee is now working on a new definition because the old one ‘does not reflect and express adequately the complexities of the 21stcentury and the current responsibilities and commitments of museums, nor their challenges and visions for the future.’
