In 2002, engineer Cor Wildenberg (b. 1973) moved to Istanbul to join his wife Uzay. He soon realised that it was essential to learn the language if he was to integrate successfully. At the time, the Dutch had set compulsory naturalisation tests for Turks. Inspired by the idea, he set up an education centre: Wildenberg Hollanda Kültür Merkezi. Here, he offers Turkish and Dutch language and culture courses. Turks are always surprised to see him cycling around Istanbul on his bike with his young sons on the back.
