Ceramist Valentine van Herpen (b. 1946) felt liberated when she came to Turkey. Her life in Amsterdam was hectic. She had married young, had a son, studied at art college, worked as a hotel manager and ran a gallery. It was all too much. Her doctor advised her to get some rest somewhere far away. The colourful coastal resort of Kaş fascinated her. In her idyllic country house she opened Galerie Gökseki where she teaches pottery, ceramics and sculpture, and exhibits her own work.
