Jacob’s mastery was not limited to painting and print-making: his work includes stained-glass windows and liturgical vestments. In fact he only provided the designs. Others were responsible for the production: a far more efficient solution. This enabled him to focus on what he did best: woodcuts and paintings. Among the paintings that reveal his technical perfection are works such as Noli Me Tangere and Adoration of the Magi.
Perfectionist
Jacob’s work is distinguished by his enormous skill and the exceptional quality of his workmanship. He was a technical perfectionist, and at the same time a great storyteller. It is more than evident in his paintings and woodcuts. And he indulged himself in all kinds of details. For example, he included rabbits no larger than a pinhead in the background of one painting.
