The seventh costume portrait showed a mufti, the head of religious affairs. We have no record of the painting’s appearance. It seems that it was lost before the Directorate of Levant Trade was dissolved. Since all the other figures in the series are based on prints after Vanmour, it seems likely that the mufti’s portrait resembled this painting now in Istanbul’s Pera Museum.
Use the touchscreen in the centre of this table to create your own version of the seventh portrait combining different Ottoman garments. Insert your own photo in the painting, at the photo corner at the exhibition exit.
