Trading centre for grain

Traders from all over Europe came to Amsterdam to purchase grain, which became a grain entrepôt . To accommodate this trade, in 1616 Amsterdam built the Korenbeurs, the grain exchange on Damrak designed by Hendrick de Keyser.
