From unique wild style throw ups to stickers, murals, markers, shoe wax, paste ups, spray can, woodies, rollers, and sculpture, the unique collection of over thirty artworks is put together in a spirit of original graffiti movement, highlighting fast execution and urban space engagement. From the beginning, our goal has been to bring this relatively young medium of art closer to the people, who would otherwise not visit Amsterdam’s Spui or a cultural museum in the city center.

Interactive gallery for cyber-tourists

SAMA’s extensive urban art collection is now available online for viewing through Google Cultural Institute. An interactive gallery that guides cyber-tourists on a colorful journey through the streets of the Nieuw-West stadsdeel of Amsterdam, showcasing the contributions of graphic and graffiti artists, and stories behind their conception.

Art as a tool

Using art as a tool and positioning the collection on the streets of the relatively unknown Nieuw-West urban community of Amsterdam allowed us to build a cross-over international dialogue not only with the environment, viewers, residents and tourists, but institutions as well and those working on the streets of other countries.

The artists featured on our streets are internationally recognized by art aficionados, collectors, and galleries around the world, as well as their peers: KENOR, BTOY, H101, STINKFISH, BASTARDILLA, SPOK, LAIRA, VAQNO, ALANIZ, URIGINAL, ZAS, ICY&SOT, KERSCHNAR, ALEX SENNA, SKOUNT, PAU, BUNNY BRIGADE, KEYS ART... to name a few.

We use the words Street Art as a marketing tool, allowing us to enrich the patterns of alternative travelers seeking to join the game, and explore the journeys undertaken by artists as well as locals at the heart of urban art: from concept to execution.

Local guides

We are proud to present both legal and illegal pieces that we helped to create on the streets of where we live in Amsterdam, as well as non-street works such as prints, stickers, toys and books in our new HQ Gallery. whereby non-stop monthly activities allow us to build the necessary energy to keep the works and the stories that accompany them constantly fresh and actual.

Our local guides all come from the area, each one telling a unique story from their point of view. We also provide Curator’s Special Days for those who would like to engage with the community and art collection on a deeper level, learn about the roots of graffiti and street art, and discover different styles of art throughout Amsterdam.

"I want graffiti art to be remembered as something that is special to the longevity of art in itself by contributing to the dialogue. That’s my broader reach. I want to make sure people understand about wild style. They understand about abstraction. They understand that we are part of a new wave that is also connected to some old. But we are a layer of this abstraction. I want to understand that there’s something outside of the predominantly figurative work that’s very popular at the moment."
