Horn of plenty

The Wisselbank, the Bank of Amsterdam, established in 1609 to put an end to the money chaos, was the financial heart of the city hall on the Dam. The bank had various offices. A bronze and a wooden counter have been preserved that probably served to separate officials and visitors. This oak section probably functioned as the end piece of one of the counters of the Wisselbank. The horn of plenty here is transformed into its prosaic basis: money. Nothing could be more appropriate.
